A retired local businessman alleges he is being set upon by Wealden District Council.  David Pursglove claims his troubles started the moment he discovered a high quality drinking water from a well on his farm.

It would seem Wealden stood to gain if they could prevent Mr Pursglove from ever extracting any of the spring water from his well.  How this might be so remains to be uncovered.  The fact is Mr Pursglove is not a well man and this council appear to be playing on this weakness, where a number of agencies have been contacted, all descending at once on Paygate Farm with some pretence or other as to the reason for the sudden interest.

These agencies include the Valuation Office and Wealden's Pest and Pollution Control departments. in addition, this council appear to be seeking to charge and elicit planning fees for a small caravan on site, where the use of this facility is in fact a permitted development?

The pattern is all too familiar.  These same tactics have been employed against Anne Harris and Lawrie Trill, to name just two.  Any bogus use of authority designed to waste time, intimidate, or otherwise harass a victim, is of course illegal.  This is a misuse of authority and the public purse, the cost of which should be repaid by the offending officers, according to the Local Government Acts as amended.

The Council and other agencies have now been challenged to provide information as to the legitimacy of their various complaints.  In addition, the matter had been referred to the Police, although in typical fashion, the Sussex Police have so far failed to respond - as yet!  

We will be following this story, and for that reason would urge any official of any agency that may be contacted in connection with this property, to act with caution.  Take down every detail from a complainant and do not act on anonymous complaints, but rather refer the matter to the Police.  Wealden's enforcement and legal departments have been known to stoop to devious means, such as fabricating complaints, where the interests of others are in fact behind orchestrated efforts to gain another persons property at an undervale!
